In 2011, the Fox and Hounds Pub was purchased by Kevin and Kerri Durkan who were already owners of local popular microbrewery Two Bridges Brewery. The new landlords intended on turning the pool room into a shrine to honor the “Beatles” with memorabilia. They were given several donated pieces by The Cavern Club and the Beatles Society.
They also had hopes to receive a few transcriptions of McCartneys very own lyrics from the Beatles Anthology that had made references to the very pub they performed in. Although, we cannot speculate if that actually transpired. The Beatles Anthology has a writing by Sir Paul McCartney that reads “That spring of 1960, John and I went down to a pub in Reading, The Fox And Hounds, run by my cousin Betty Robbins and her husband,” resource; http://www.getreading.co.uk/lifestyle/food-drink/ginger-beerd-reading-festival-ale-5776305
Recently, Kevin and Kerri celebrated when they found out that they had been placed in the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide. The Pub was listed among 4,500 0f the 50,000 pubs in Britain to make the 2014 guide.
