Established in 2012, This young collective, ranging in ages from 13 to 20, met and gathered at the Sierra Surf Music Camp. Located at Donner Mine Camp, it offers an experienced and talented team of musicians who volunteer to teach students of all ages the technique and theory behind the specific genre of Surf Music. The camp schedule divided these eager-to-learn musicians into a group with a few musical assignments. In the end they were given the opportunity to perform what they had learned. The experience was such a success the boys could not part ways and decided to stick together and now reside in Northern California as the Sneaky Tikis performing instrumental surf rock music anywhere they can.
“Soundcheck Music has been a tremendous help and confidant in establishing the bands unique vintage Surf Sound.” comments DeFender Jon, the groups manager. “Their infinite knowledge and plethora of vintage gear has been a continuous resource for the Sneaky Tikis” Bill Lapham, owner of Soundcheck Music Center, is also a big fan of the DeFender’s Hot Rods Car Club Company, which is owned by Jon. So the relationship is mutually beneficial.
The bands major influences are Dick Dale, The Ventures, The Pyronauts, Slacktone, Jon and the Nightriders. The Sneaky Tikis are available for hire and already have a growing resume of weddings, private parties, concerts, store promotions, and charity events.
As the band prepares to hopefully release their first EP in September, they will be in the recording studio through August. To find out more about this phenomenal band or for Showtimes and Schedules Like them on Facebook! or Visit their website at http://artistecard.com/SneakyTikis
